About

Hearing Music 201 takes musical understanding beyond the page and into the world of sound! Designed for students who want to strengthen their musical ears, this course develops the ability to recognize and understand pitches, rhythms, and musical patterns through active listening.

Through interactive games, guided listening exercises, and hands-on musical activities, students will learn to identify pitches using solfège (Do, Re, Mi), recognize intervals, distinguish time signatures and rhythmic patterns, and develop their ability to understand music by ear.

Each month builds on a different listening skill, progressing from recognizing pitch in April to identifying rhythms in May, and finally combining both skills in June through call-and-response exercises, musical challenges, and practical application.

Whether you're a singer who wants to learn melodies more independently, an instrumentalist looking to strengthen your ear, or a musician hoping to better understand the sounds around you, Hearing Music 201 will help you become a more perceptive, confident, and responsive musician.

What You’ll Learn
