Mikayla Batschi is a sought-after vocal instructor, performer, and speaker with over two decades of experience in voice training and performance. What sets Mikayla apart is her uniquely integrative approach—uniting technique, artistry, and emotional health in a way that helps singers not only sound better, but feel better.

In 2025, Mikayla delivered the TEDx Talk “Singing Through the Silence: Unlocking Mental Health One Note at a Time,” which explored the powerful intersection of music, voice, and emotional healing. Drawing from both her lived experience and her educational background, she has emerged as a thought leader at the crossroads of singing and mental wellness.

Mikayla holds a Bachelor’s in Family Studies from Brigham Young University and spent six years working at the Center for Change, a leading eating disorder treatment center. There, she learned to sit with those who are suffering, to listen deeply, and to create spaces of safety, trust, and transformation. These same principles now shape her voice studio, where singers of all ages and backgrounds are met with compassion, clarity, and deep respect.

In 2019, Mikayla founded Batschi Vocals, a thriving private studio built entirely through word-of-mouth and student results. She teaches full-time and specializes in helping singers reconnect with their voices—whether they're overcoming vocal injury, fear, burnout, or simply looking to level up their artistry. She is Level 1 Certified in the Singing Athlete Methodology, trained in neuromuscular voice science, and is currently completing her Voice Teacher Certification through the Institute for Vocal Advancement. Her students often describe her teaching as both “technically precise” and “deeply healing.”

Mikayla’s own vocal path hasn’t always been linear. There was a season when she stopped singing altogether—a detour that now fuels her deep empathy for students navigating their own doubts or roadblocks. She’s lived what many of them are feeling, and she brings that wisdom to every lesson. For her, vocal coaching isn’t just about sound—it’s about empowerment, identity, and reclaiming your space in the world.

Mikayla began formal vocal training at the age of 8 and has since developed a rich foundation in opera, classical, and musical theatre, with advanced skill in both legit and belt/mix styles. She has studied under elite mentors including Debra and Barry Bounous, Jim Wilcock, Valaura Arnold, and Arden Hopkin, and currently continues her studies with Rob Moffat and Broadway vocal coach Andrew Byrne.

Her career has included international performances in China and India, where she engaged in cross-cultural musical exchange. As a young artist, she was named a Top Ten Finalist in both classical and belt/mix categories at the prestigious Classical Singer Competition in Boston—an early milestone that affirmed her versatility and excellence.

Her stage credits span a wide range of roles, including La Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Mrs. Potts and the Wardrobe in Beauty and the Beast. This breadth of experience equips her to coach singers across genres with authenticity, nuance, and expressive depth.

Mikayla has also contributed as a voice teacher with ACT Performing Arts Academy and a music director for numerous Utah-based theater companies, including Alpine Community Theater, Draper Historic Theater, Draper Arts Council, and Lamplight Theater Company—mentoring cast members from chorus to lead with passion and professionalism.

Mikayla lives in Utah with her husband, Alex, and is the mother of three sons—one of whom she now carries in her heart. Her home is filled with music, movement, and memory. Whether she’s hosting kitchen dance parties, cranking up the tunes during meals to spark playful singing, or battling it out in intense board games (the more strategic, the better), she brings joy and presence into everything she does. She’s also a bit of an arcade junkie, always up for a rematch.

Like many artist-moms, Mikayla is often chasing time—but never short on passion. Her relentless drive to grow, improve, and connect with others is the same energy she brings into every lesson, rehearsal, and performance. And it’s exactly what makes her voice—and her teaching—so powerful.
