About
Creating Music 401 brings the language of music full circle by giving students the tools to create something entirely their own! Designed for musicians ready to explore their creativity, this course introduces the fundamentals of songwriting and composition while encouraging students to develop their own musical ideas and artistic voice.
Through creative exercises, guided composition activities, and hands-on projects, students will explore how melodies, rhythms, harmonies, and musical structures work together. They'll learn to develop original musical ideas, organize them into cohesive pieces, and express themselves through their own compositions.
Each month guides students through the creative process, beginning with the building blocks of composition in October, developing an original song or musical piece in November, and refining and completing their work in December.
Whether you're a singer interested in songwriting, an instrumentalist wanting to compose, or a musician ready to explore your creativity, Creating Music 401 will help you transform your musical knowledge into something uniquely yours. By the end of the unit, students will have the opportunity to complete and share an original musical creation.
